Buchanan

James McGill Buchanan Jr., né le 3 octobre 1919 et mort le 9 janvier 2013, est un économiste américain qui a reçu le « prix Nobel » d'économie en 1986 pour le développement de la théorie du choix public (Public Choice theory) qui critique les dysfonctionnements de l'intervention publique et explique les comportements de l'État à partir des agents qui le constituent. Il fait ainsi suite aux premiers travaux effectués par Amilcare Puviani quelques années auparavant.
